Each week students will receive (or make) special Eggs, that will contain a story reminder of the days lesson. They will also make a ‘Story’ basket the first week, in which to store their eggs each week (or a central basket for the class as a whole to store each week’s egg if you don’t have the ability to make enough for each child) and at the end of the series, they will be able to take them home. Each lesson will have the ‘egg’ theme and words woven into it, there will be Memory Verse review games, introduction to the lesson activity, Bible lesson focus followed by a reinforcement activity (i.e., game, craft, snack). Through this series we will focus on the great love God has for us, how Jesus proved who He was and provided us the greatest gift of all, our salvation through the cross!
Memory Verse for the Series:
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."(Mark 10:45 NIV)
‘Egg’-trordinary Events in the life and ministry of Jesus. Children will learn about the miracles of Jesus, the signs that He truly was the Son of God, ending with the even more ‘Egg’-trordinary account of Lazarus being raised from the dead and how Jesus was preparing His disciples for His death and resurrection. They will learn about how Jesus cares deeply for us and how He grieved for Mary & Martha in their sadness for Lazarus. They will also see that everything happens for a reason in God’s plan and we can trust Him to have our best interest at heart.
‘Egg’-treme Man Hunt begins!! Discussing and seeing how the Pharisees hated Jesus and were trying to catch Him and stop Him from teaching the truth. They will learn how the Pharisees plotted and paid Judas to betray Him. We will continue to see Jesus trying to prepare His disciples for what will come. Jesus will also show us how to love our enemies and respond to bullies. The children will learn how important it is to stand for the truth of God and love others, even those who are not kind to us.
Psalm Sunday, children will learn of the ‘Egg’-citing Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, how the people were happy to see Him, but had their own ideas of what Jesus would bring to them and how quickly they turned against Him. There will also be an emphasis on the Passover Meal/Last Supper. The children will see Jesus preparing His disciples for what is to come. They will see how much Jesus cares about us and what we are going through.
Celebrating the ‘Egg’-trordinary Resurrection! Children will learn about the steps leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus. They will participate in an ‘Egg’-treme Bible Verse - Scavenger Hunt. They will see how Jesus is the only way that we can be brought to peace to God and they will celebrate the fact that Jesus is indeed alive today and watching over us in heaven! Lots of special fun activities to choose from and add in if you have time.
